1989 Tour de France DVD

Those who saw it -- either from a vantage point on the Champs-Elysees or on television -- will never forget counting down the seconds as Laurent Fignon sprinted in vain to the finish line in the final time trial in Paris. LeMond had been at death's door after a shooting accident early in 1987 and was riding in his first Tour since winning in 1986.

After an incredible three weeks that saw the maillot jaune switch between the American and Frenchman, LeMond trailed Fignon by 50 seconds overall going into the final time trial in Paris. No one gave him much chance of clawing back that time in just 24.5 kilometers, but the new triathlon-style handlebars were a distinct advantage as he beat Fignon by 58 seconds. After 3,285 kilometers of racing, a mere eight seconds separated the two men overall. It doesn't get better than that!

"Nothing like this has ever been available before to US audiences. The video of the 1989 Tour is nothing short of phenomenal." - VeloNews.

"Magnificent! This is how cycling should be presented." - The Washington Times.

"This is a must-have DVD for anyone who's even remotely interested in bicycle racing."

2007 Giro d'Italia DVD with2007 Milan-San Remo at no extra cost

The Killer Rides In Italy, May 2007. In the nation that is cycling?s powerhouse, the sport?s throne lies empty. To decide the successor, there is only one true test of strength which counts: the 2000-mile Giro d?Italia.

With no clear master, this year?s Giro witnessed a genuine two-wheeled revolution: in an epic roller coaster of early success followed by long moments of doubt and suspense, Classics specialist Danilo Di Luca overcame a host of stage racing stars to take his first ever major Tour.

Victory in the opening team time trial sets up initial leader Di Luca as the unwilling target for a non-stop avalanche of attacks on his precarious grip on power.

Amongst Di Luca?s most doughty rivals is the multi-headed hydra of the Spanish Saunier Duval team. Bristling with climbers ranging from grizzled veteran Gilberto Simoni and Iban Mayo to the new - but equally dangerous - kid on the block Ricardo Ricco, Di Luca soon finds himself with his back against the wall.

But the 31-year-old is not known as ?Il Killer? for nothing. An early victory on the mist-enshrouded Montevirgine climb is followed by a stalwart defense of his title in the Alps and Dolomites. However, Di Luca slowly finds himself losing control. Nor can he breathe easier as the race?s final destination looms. Instead a new threat - in the shape of brash young pretender Andy Schleck - takes shape, and the last challenge for Di Luca is a rainlashed time trial precisely the terrain where he is at his most vulnerable.

A painstaking record of Di Luca?s tortuous rise to power, this 2007 Giro D?Italia DVD is a gripping visual tribute to one man?s courage and determination in the sporting event closest to his heart. Commentary by Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwen.

World of Tom Tommy Simpson DVD

Something to aim at is a film that told the story of Tom Simpson - who he was, where he came from and what he achieved. After it was released, so many people contacted the producer with their own personal memories of meeting Tom, that he felt another, more in-depth film, should be made about him.

The World of Tommy Simpson is a film that takes a closer look at Tom through the eyes of the people who knew him well, including: Tom's parents - a 1968 interview, recorded just a few months after his death, they speak of his early days in Harworth and his determination to succeed. Jane and Joanne Simpson - his two daughters who have very special memories. Dave Marsh and Len Jones - who devote much of their time to looking after the Tom Simpson Collection in Harworth. Phil Pilley - the BBC producer who became a close friend after meeting Tom on the Tour de France. Roger St Pierre - the well known cycling journalist and friend of Tom. This film contains footage of the great man in action, including Tom riding in the Brussels Six Day Race with the legendary Peter Post, and the BBC film from 1965. All of which adds up to the story that is The World of Tommy Simpson. The BBC film is a fascinating documentary. Containing extremely rare archive footage, it is a very special piece of cycling history, as Tom talks very frankly about his goals, cycling and what it takes to be a champion. It is unmissable. A Ray Pascoe film Written & narrated by Ray Pascoe.

BONUS FEATURES: Unique to the DVD are 15 minutes of extra footage and interviews from the 1964 Tour de France, and a photo gallery

Maestro: The Reg Harris Story DVD
Add to Cart
Britain's first cycling superstar was Reg Harris, five times the World Sprint Champion and the winner of two silver medals in the 1948 Olympics. Enjoy in this special film, the story of his amazing life, with numerous interviews and previously unreleased archive film, including the BBC film 'Maestro' seen here for the very first time.

The only survivor of a tank attack in the Western Desert in 1940, Harris was discharged as 'medically unfit', but the doctors under-estimated his determined character and in 1947 he won the World Amateur Sprint Championships. In 1957, just ten years after his first world title, he retired and became the proud owner of the historic Fallowfield track in Manchester. It was renamed the Harris Stadium. But life was not easy outside the track. So in 1971 he returned to sprint racing. He caused a sensation. He was 51. Losing in the semi-finals of the British Championship didn't stop him, and in 1974 incredibly, at the age of 54 he won his fifth British Sprint Championship.

Reg's famous Raleigh bikes are now prized collectors items. Particularly revered is the one owned by cycling history enthusiast Dennis Wright, who proudly demonstrates to us what a fine bike it is. Top cycling promoter Alan Rushton and journalist Roger St Pierre are among those that we hear from.

Twice voted the BBC's "Sports Personality of the Year", Harris was debonair, charming, well spoken, and known affectionately as 'Sir' Reg. He loved fast cars, race horses and good wine. Such was his profile, the BBC made a film on him, called 'Maestro' and this special film is included, for the first time on this video. So sit back and enjoy the life and times of a young lad from Lancashire whose name became famous the world over. Narrated by Phil Liggett BONUS FEATURES: Unique to the DVD are 15 minutes of extra footage and interviews

This DVD is Region Free and PAL format - it will play anywhere in the world.
